My measure spoons

手に取った理由は分厚いから。
I picked this novel up because its volume is big.

アデレードからシドニーまでの移動は、鉄道で24時間かかる。
It takes about 24 hours from Adelaide to Sydney by train.

薄い本だとすぐに読み終わってしまう。
It would be finished soon if its volume is small.

だから、なるべく分厚い本を手に取った。
So, I picked up as much volume as I could choose.

良い本に巡り会えたと思う。
Fortunately, I could have met a marvelous book.

主人公は「ぼく」。小学四年生。
Main character is "I" who is a fourth grade student.

物語は、「ぼく」の目線で書かれているため、非常に読みやすい。
This story is written in main character's viewpoint. That's why I could understand easily its story.

ぼくの通っている小学校で、ある事件が起こる。
A terrible incident was happened at the elementary school which he goes to.

ある特殊な力を持つぼくは、事件の犯人に対してその力をどのように使うか、1週間いろんな事を考える。
He has a special skill which normal people don't have. He thought about a wide range of things for a week; especially, how he uses his skill to the criminal.

途中、ぼくの無垢で純粋な考えを受けて、自分の考えを整理するために何度も読むのを止めた。
I often stopped reading because I needed some times to think how I felt about main character's opinions.

それでも夢中で読み進め、一晩で読了。
However, I kept reading, and finished it for one night.

罪に対する刑の妥当性、生命の尊さ、純粋な愛が詰まった作品。
This story asks readers what the validity of punishment is,  how precious life is and an innocent love.

いろいろな事を考えるきっかけになります。
It must be a good opportunity to think about various things.

初めて自分の子どもに読ませたいと思える本に出会いました。
I would love to get my child to read this story.

小学四年生になったら読ませてみようかな、子どもいないけど（笑）
I prompt to do that, but I need having own child at first lol.
