何を信じるか

What do you believe in ?  Seeing is believing.

何を信じるかどうかは重要だと思う。

I think that what I believe in is really important.

例えば神を信じる人は、教会・モスクに行き、祈り、犯した罪を懺悔することで救われることもあるだろう。

For example, people who believe religion go to churches or mosques and pray to God. They might be sometimes redeemed from their sins.

信者が何をするのか、よく知らんけど。

I don't know about their activities very well.

イスラム教徒の友人は、毎日神に祈りを捧げるし、酒も飲まない。ってか飲んだことない。

My friend whose religion is Islam prays to God everyday and never drink alcohol at all.

どこかの若者団体がTwitterでイスラム国に対して、酒を酌み交わして平和について語ろう。と酒に誘うつぶやきをしていたが、彼らの宗教的な背景も知ろうとしていない若者らが一体何を話すのか疑問である。

A teenager's group in Japan served a tweet to ISIL, which they asked if they could drink together and talked about what peace is. I wonder, however, what they can talk about; because the group wouldn't know their religious backgrounds at all.

さて、個人的なことだが、僕は自分が見たものしか信じないようにしている。

By the way, personally I believe only what I saw.

マスコミやインターネットの情報など、鵜呑みにはしない。

I don't believe every information which are served from mass comunications such as TV stations and newspaper companies.

真実を偽ることなど、発信者にとって難しいことではないからだ。

It is supposed to be easy for them to fake facts.

また、メディアを通じて世界遺産などの美しい景色を見るのと実際に行って見るのは当然違う。

In addition, it is absolutely different to see the scenery between in actual conditions and through media.

その場の天気・におい・音などは現地でしか感じられない。

We can't feel its weather, smell or sounds only in actual coonditions.

つまり、その場に行って、自分が何をどう感じるか？というのが大事だと思う。

I mean that I believe it is important how and what I feel at the actual places.

あの人はこう言っていたが、自分はこう感じた。単純だが、重要なことだと思う。

Someone says it was brabrabra..., BUT I felt that was ..., which is just simple but essential.

結論は、自分が見たものしか信じない。

In conclusion, I believe only what I saw.

信じることは、考えること・疑問に持つことを止めることに近いのかもしれない。

Believing might be to stop thinking or wondering.
