終電と始発のあいだ
3月の中旬からバイトをスタートしたわけだが、アデレードフリンジのボランティアと一週間並行して参加した。
I have started my current job from the middle of March. I did both volunteer of the Adelaide Fringe and part time job for a week.
フリンジのボランティアは昼からの日もあったが、大概が夕方から深夜までだった。
That volunteer work usually started from the evening to the midnight mostly. But, sometimes it started from the afternoon.
いつも終電や最終のバスで帰っていた。
I always went back by the last train or bus after the volunteer.
フリンジのボランティアもシアターのマネージャーがシフトを組んでくれるのだが、幸運なことにフリンジの最終日もボランティアに参加出来ることになった。
The volunteer work was also shifted by the manager of the theatre. Fortunately, I could participate at the final day of the Fringe.
最終日だからといって特別な事はないけど、１ヶ月間通ったシアターにボランティアスタッフとして来るのも最後だと思うと、感慨深いものがあった。
There is nothing special for even the final day at the theatre. However, I was filled with deep emotion when I thought it was the final day for me to go to the theatre as a volunteer staff.
ここで配送バイトの勤怠について。
Now, I would like to introduce my shift of part time job.
日本で会社に勤めていた時、運送会社の人らとやり取りする事が多く、始業時間が早いということは知っていた。
I know that most transportation companies start working earlier because I used to contact them when I worked for certain company in Japan.
この会社は朝7時始業で終わりは5時半。
We start to work from 7 am to 5.30 pm in this company.
配送が終わった後も翌日の準備や倉庫内の片付けがあり、終わるのは早くて6時。
We need to prepare for the following day and clean a warehouse up after deliveries in the afternoon. So, we usually finish working after 6 pm.
僕のシフトは月曜から木曜。
My shift is from Monday to Thursday.
バイトを始めた頃に住んでいたシェアハウスは、シティの中心部から電車と徒歩で約１時間。
When I started this job, I lived in a share house which takes an hour to go to the centre of the city by a railway and walking.
シェアハウスから会社までは電車と、バス2本乗り継いで１時間半の場所。
It takes 1.5 hour to go to the company from the share house by a railway and two buses.
始発の電車とバスを乗り継いで通っていた。
I used to go to the office by the first train in a day.
ここまで説明したら予想が着くだろうか。
So, you might predict the punch line of this story.
フリンジ最終日は日曜で、翌日の月曜はバイトが入った。
The final day in the Fringe was Sunday, and I had a job following Monday.
もちろん、どちらも行きたいので、どちらも行った。
Of course, I went both of them because I would have wanted to attend.
結果的に終電で帰宅し、始発で出勤した。
As a result, I went back to the share house by the final train, and I went to the office by the first train.
シェアハウス滞在時間は3時間。
I stayed the share house for 3 hours.
それでも１時間半くらい寝た。
Although, I could sleep an hour and a half hour.
仕事中に眠くなる事も無く、無事に帰宅できましたとさ。
I could go back without any trouble during working time.
勤労を美徳と考えるのは日本人だけだろうか？
I wonder people who think hard work is a virtue are just Japanese.
