サウスオーストラリア観光

Today, I would like to show some pictures. When I went to McLaren Vale and Victor Harbor last May, I took these pistures. McLaren Vale is famous for the second largest area to produce wine in South Australia. On the other hand, Victor Harbor has beautiful coast line and Granite island. There is Antarctica if we went down south from Granite island.

5月にマクラーレンベールとビクターハーバーに行った時の写真です。マクラーレンベールはサウスオーストラリア州で2番目に大きなワインの産地として有名です。一方でビクターハーバーは美しい海岸線とグラニテ島が人気です。グラニテ島から南には南極大陸があるだけです。(もちろん見えませんが。)

Grape trees next to a winery are planted orderly in many lines. We enjoyed tasting of some glasses of wine by 10 dollars. Flat fields look like spreading endlessly. 

ワイナリーの横には葡萄の木が整然と並んでいます。10豪ドルくらいで何杯か試飲もできます。平原はどこまでも続くようで・・・

I and my friends rode Horse Drawn Tram.The big horse in the foreground pulled the green tram to Granite island. We could sit on the roof of the tram and enjoyed a nice view from there.

一緒に行った友人と馬が牽引するトラムに乗りました。これに乗ってグラニテ島に行きます。トラムの屋根に座る事ができましたが、ええ景色でした。

凧と蛸

These are pictures I took at the Semaphore Beach in South Australia. Annual Kite Festival is hold in April. 

サウスオーストラリア州のSemaphoreビーチというところで撮影しました。年に一回、4月に凧のフェスティバルが開催されています。

Various kind of kites were hung above the beach. In the centere of this picture, a huge kite is a shape of whale. 

いろんな凧がビーチに吊るされており、写真の中央にはでかいクジラの形をしたやつがあります。

I took this picture from a jetty. It looks not so crowded, but many people actually were there.

これは桟橋から撮りました。あんま人がいないように見えますが、かなりの数の観光客が来ていました。

アリススプリングス駅にて

This is a picture I took in front of Alice Aprings station last August. Arice Springs is the nearest city from Uluru, where is not so small city. Many people stay there before or after visit Ayers Rock.

アリススプリングス駅で撮影した写真。アリススプリングスはウルルにもっとも近い(そこそこの規模の)都市で、ウルルに行く人は大概寄っていくと思う。

In the centre of this picture, a statue is standing, which is a person who is riding a camel.

写真の中央にはラクダに乗った人の像が建てられている。

A woman is standing at the front of statue. She has a camera, so she might take a photo of this statue.

一人のカメラを持った女性が像の前に立っている。たぶん写真でも撮るんだろう。

In the background, there is train which colour is silver. It is a sunny day and looks hot because the woman is wearing short pants.

写真の後方には銀色の電車が停まっている。女性は半ズボンを履いているので、暑そうだ。

It looks strong rays of the sun because there are large eaves and the woman is wearing a hut.

大きな庇があるのと女性が帽子を被っているので、陽射しが強そうだ。

ハンドルフの案山子？？

今回から写真を英語で説明する練習をしてみようと思う。

I would like to start describing a picture to practice English.

というのも、パソコンが使用できるようになり、写真のサイズを変更できるからだ。

This is because I can use my PC and I can change the size of pictures.

主に使用していたタブレットのブログアプリでは、サイズの変更ができなかったけど、何でだろうか？？

I used an application for tablet devices during staying in Australia. I wonder why I could not change the size with that application.

これは確かサウスオーストラリア州のハンドルフというドイツ人の入植地で撮った写真だ。

 This is a picture I took at Hahndorf where is the first settlement of German in South Australia.

身体の上半身が埋まっている人間に見えるが、造り物である。

It is a doll which is buried a half top of a man in a flower garden.

実際の人間くらいの大きさのため、本当に人間が埋まっているのではないかと見間違えるかもしれない。

You might doubt it is real because it looks similer size to an actual human.

歩道の横に作られた、木のチップが敷き詰められた花壇である。

The flower bed was made along a sideroad and was full of wood chips.

現代アートかな？

It might be a modern art.

無重力体験？？

Gravity

 

オランダ人の友だちと話していた時のこと。

I would like to talk about the gravity.

 

その子もワーキングホリデーで来ていて、旅行代理店でバイトをしている。
I talked about the sky diving with my Holland friend who worked for a travel agency.

 

スカイダイビングをしたいと相談した。
She also had a working holiday visa.

 

飛び降りる高さにもいくつかあり、高いほど、長い時間楽しめるが、値段も高くなる。
We can choose how high we fall down from. As higher we enjoy longer time, as expensive it costs.

 

知るところによると、1万4千フィートが最も高い。
I think 14,000 feets is the highest point we can try in Cairns.

 

そのくらいの高さになると、飛行機の中でも無重力になるのではないか？と質問したけど、イマイチ噛み合わなかったので、少し調べた。

I asked her if we would feel zero gravity in the airplane at that high point. But she did not make sense because of my lack of English skills. This is why I have searched about gravity.

 

14,000フィートは約4,267メートルで、スペースシャトルは高度200キロメートル付近を飛んでいる。

14,000 feet equal about 4,267 metre, and space shuttles fly at 200 kilometere.

 

なので、到底無重力を感じられる高さではない。

So it is far from feeling zero gravity at this height.

 

飛んでいる間の写真を撮影するサービスの他に、動画を録画してくれるサービスもある。

I can get both services taking photoes and recording short movies during the sky diving.

 

しかし、それぞれ100ドルは上乗せされる。

However, it charges more 100 dollars each service.

 

いい商売です。

Good business model...

Bon Appetit

フランス人の友だちに日本語を教えていた時のこと。
It was several weeks ago. I talked about Japanese language to my French friend.

フランスでは食事をする人に、Bon appetit. と言う。
French people say "Bon Appetit" before they start meals.

その意味は英語ではEnjoy your meal、日本では召し上がれってとこかな。
It means "Enjoy your meal" in English. In the other word, Japanese say "You can start eating".

日本では食事を始める前に「いただきます。」と言う事を教えた。
I told him Japanese say "Itadaki-masu" before they start eating.

牛や豚などの生命に感謝するために言うのだと説明した。
I explained this was because we appreciate their lives.

この時にふと、言霊信仰の事を思い出したので、ついでに説明した。
At the same time I explained the spirits which is present in words as well.

日本では何にでも生命が宿る。それがたとえ言葉であっても、口にすることによって現実化するかもしれない。
In Japan anything has their own spirit, even if it is the word. It might realize because of saying words.

縁起の悪いことは口にしないように教えられた。
I was told I should not say unfortunate words.

英語を学習する意義の中に、文化交流は欠かせない。
Learning cultures is essential in the learning English.

ただしゃべって仲良くなって楽しいねでは物足りない。
I am not satisfied by just talking and making friends.

そう考えると世界史を勉強することは、相手の国を理解する一助になるだろう。
In conclusion, World history helps us to understand each country.

しかし、それ以前に日本史を知らなあかんなー（笑）
However, Japanese history is prior than it lol.

ボンダイへのバスにて

最近の俺はツイている。
In these days I often get fortunes.

学生時代は数々の不運に見舞われたが、まぁそれも日頃の行いが招いたものだったが。
When I was an university student, I was suffered from many disasters. Actually, my bad habits caused them.

シドニーでの滞在中、ボンダイビーチというとても人気のあるビーチへ行った時のこと。
I would like to talk about an episode that I went to the Bondi beach in Sydney.

確信を持って乗り込んだバスは、隣のブロントビーチへ向かうものだった。
I took a mistake to jump on the bus which was bound for the Bronte beach; although, I was confident to catch a true bus.

ブロントビーチからボンダイビーチへは歩いて一時間くらいの距離だ。
It approximately takes an hour on foot from the Bronte beach to the Bondi beach.

ミスったな～と思いきや、バスの乗車カードを読み込む機械がたまたま故障していて、無料で乗れた。
I thought shit! However, I could get on in no charge because its ticket gate was not working.

乗り込んだ時には既に壊れていて、五ドル得した。こういうのを、災い転じて福と成すと言うんだろう。
It had already been broken when I jumped on. As a result, I didn't pay anything. It must be called turning misfortune into a blessing.

ブロントビーチは波が高く、サーファーがたくさんいた。
The waves of the Bronte beach are so good that many surfers were enjoying.

気持ちのよい風に吹かれながら、一時間歩いたが、良い運動になった。
I walked about an hour in the wind which brought me a good exercise.

まぁ、物事をどう捉えるかは、その人の考え方に依るんだろう。
Well, it depends on someone's way of thinking how he interpret.

補足、シドニーでは乗車時と降車時にカードを読み込み、移動した距離に応じて支払う。アデレードは乗車時に支払い、どこまで行っても同じ値段！
We need to check the ticket gate twice and pay fare calculated by how far you moved in Sydney. On the other hand, the fare in Adelaide is same prices wherever you go.
